China’s Air Purification Market: From Standalone Purification to Integrated Air Ecosystem Management

China’s Air Purification Market: From Standalone Purification to Integrated Air Ecosystem Management

2026-02-25

According to the 2026–2032 In-Depth Research and Investment Strategy Report on China’s Air Purifier Industry released by the Gongyan Industry Research Institute, China’s air purifier market is undergoing a profound transformation—from single-function purification toward comprehensive “air ecosystem management.”

Air purifiers improve indoor air quality by adsorbing, decomposing, or converting airborne pollutants such as PM2.5, formaldehyde, odors, bacteria, and allergens. Their core operating logic remains straightforward: intake polluted air → purification processing → discharge clean air. However, the market’s value proposition is increasingly expanding beyond basic filtration toward integrated environmental management solutions.

Market Size and Growth Momentum

The report forecasts that by 2026:

  • Output of air purifiers in China will increase by 6.7% year-on-year

  • Market demand will grow by 6.4% year-on-year

  • Overall market value will rise by 3.2% year-on-year

These figures indicate that after a period of rapid expansion, the market is entering a phase of steady and mature growth, characterized by structural optimization rather than explosive volume gains.

Online Channels Dominate, Price Segmentation Intensifies

Online channels maintain a firmly dominant position, accounting for over 90% of total sales. Within online segments, comprehensive e-commerce platforms and specialized appliance e-retailers continue to capture the majority share.

Notably, while growth on Douyin (TikTok China) has moderated, its channel structure has steadily improved. Product price distribution is becoming more rational, with gradual penetration into the mid-to-high-end segments.

Offline channels, primarily experience stores and specialty retailers, serve as complementary touchpoints, offering consumers hands-on purchasing experiences.

Price Band Dynamics

The RMB 2,000–3,000 range has become the core competitive battleground, concentrated with products emphasizing pet-focused purification features and high-performance specifications.

  • The premium segment (above RMB 4,000) faces increasing pressure from high-specification models entering lower price bands.

  • The mid-range segment (RMB 2,000–4,000) continues to expand its share, driven by strong cost-performance positioning.

This structural shift reflects growing consumer rationality and a heightened emphasis on measurable performance metrics.

Policy Tailwinds Continue

China’s nationwide home appliance trade-in program continues to stimulate demand through large-scale equipment renewal and consumer product replacement initiatives. Several provinces and municipalities have included air purifiers within subsidy eligibility lists, effectively boosting demand for higher-end models.

As a result, subsidized product sales have steadily increased, with market penetration exceeding 90% of total sales volume.

Outlook

China’s air purification industry is transitioning from hardware-centered competition toward integrated air environment solutions. Future growth will likely be driven by technological upgrades, policy incentives, channel refinement, and premiumization—marking a shift from quantity expansion to quality-driven development.
